BatChat With Matt & Will Episode 23: Do I Look Like Batman? (w/ Lex Smith)

I Am Batman Banner

Look, anyone with any knowledge of comics history knows that comics creators in mainstream American comics are, well, pretty darn white. And Batman is no exception; there are no truly long runs by creators of color on any of the flagship Batman titles. But there are some good stories by Black writers on Batman, and so, as this is February and Black History Month, Matt & Will wanted to look at some of those stories. And they brought along ComicsXF writer Lex Smith, so there was an opinion that wasn’t just a pair of white guys.

Matt Lazorwitz read his first comic at the age of 5. It was Who's Who in the DC Universe #2, featuring characters whose names begin with B, which explains so much about his Batman obsession. He writes about comics he loves, and co-hosts the podcasts BatChat with Matt & Will and The ComicsXF Interview Podcast.

Lex Smith

Lex Smith is probably tired right now. They're definitely trying not to think about everything they have to write! When they're not staring at a blank Word document, odds are they're tweeting, playing Pokémon or wondering how they ended up with such a smart-ass kid.

Will Nevin loves bourbon and AP style and gets paid to teach one of those things. He is on Twitter far too often.
