Look, I get it, Gladiator. You’ve seen this movie before.
Jean Grey is the Phoenix again. The first time that happened, she killed a whole planet of broccoli people. You sent your best people after her to stop her, and in the end the only reason you succeeded is because she chose to die by suicide.
It spooked your people so much that the second time Jean Grey died, they tried to erase her whole bloodline to prevent the Phoenix Force from selecting her next of kin.
Not to mention the time the Phoenix Force possessed her husband and his friends and they all went nuts. Though you largely stayed out of that one because the Avengers were already involved.
So yeah, it must be weird seeing Jean as the Phoenix again, operating across the cosmos, taking out big bad after big bad, and everyone thinks it’s fine, like a classic wrestling heel who’s become so beloved over the years that they’ve drifted into face territory. You’re just waiting for the Wrestlemania re-heeling.
But the joke’s on you, because this series is probably getting canceled before that happens.
