Nathan timeslides to Fury Road in our EXCLUSIVE preview of Marvel’s Cable: Love & Chrome #1

Next year marks the 10th anniversary of the release of the movie Mad Max: Fury Road, in which groups of cars traverse a futuristic-but-also-steampunk wasteland and do fights while we root for bisexual icons Tom Hardy and Charlize Theron.

While that movie is but one link in a franchise dating to 1979 and extending to this year’s Furiosa, Fury Road‘s influence can be traced to a number of loudly winking recent references, including the Rainbow Road sequence in The Super Mario Bros. Movie, The Void in Deadpool & Wolverine, and in this preview of next week’s Cable: Love & Chrome, which includes a scene of Cable strapped to the head of a Sentinel, itself strapped to the head of a spiky, exhaust-pipe-filled truck, flanked on all sides by the “Surtur’s Angels” motorcycle club/death cult.

Look, it’s a good movie. If you’re gonna steal, steal from the best.

Anyway, quick PSA: New comics are still coming out this week and next, even with Christmas and New Year’s Day on Wednesdays. Don’t forget to stop by your local comic shop and pick up your pull. With Diamond’s recent shipping delays, they can use all the help they can get.

Check out our exclusive preview of Cable: Love & Chrome #1, out next week, and keep scrolling for the basic deets.
