BatChat With Matt & Will: The Forgotten Sidekicks of the 2010s

Duke Thomas Banner

The Bat family has grown considerably over the years. What started out as Batman and Robin now contains what seems to be a dozen or more characters. And recent years have seen many attempts to add characters who would be big hits and draw massive popularity. And while this has created some good characters, none of the characters created in period of the New 52 and early Rebirth eras took off to become characters who headlined their own books, for example. This week, we read stories about three of those characters: Harper Row, Duke Thomas, and Gotham Girl.

  • Ghost in the Machine (Batman V.2 #12)
  • I Am Gotham (Batman: Rebirth #1, Batman V.3 #1-6)
  • The Cursed Wheel (All-Star Batman #1-4, 6-9 Back-Ups)

This week’s BatChat column focuses on the long anticipated first part of H2SH Batman #158.

Matt Lazorwitz read his first comic at the age of 5. It was Who's Who in the DC Universe #2, featuring characters whose names begin with B, which explains so much about his Batman obsession. He writes about comics he loves, and co-hosts the podcasts BatChat with Matt & Will and The ComicsXF Interview Podcast.

Will Nevin loves bourbon and AP style and gets paid to teach one of those things. He is on Twitter far too often.
