They were a race of aliens who came to resent their god, so they killed it. Then they set about trying to destroy other races that had religions.
They don’t have many appearances. Kitty Pryde met some of them in a Black Air base that exploded in Excalibur. The Starjammers fought them in a miniseries around that same time. They were a very Warren Ellis thing.
Sometimes I think about the number of gods and god pantheons in the Marvel Universe, and I wonder what happened to that scrappy race of purple nasties that wanted to kill all the gods. Untapped story potential, that.
