Do you think Dani Moonstar ever gets tired of being the sensible, level-headed New Mutant?
Like, remember when she yelled at Professor Xavier about her belt? That was her first appearance, and it’s the only act of teenage rebellion of hers that I can immediately recall. Cyclops has rebelled more than her. And why is she still wearing that dang training uniform? She’s 43 years old! Isn’t Jumbo Carnation still alive? Can’t he make her some new threads? (And by Jumbo Carnation I mean Russell Dauterman, Lucas Werneck or Luciano Vecchio.)
The most she’s ever cut loose was when she was in the Mutant Liberation Front, and even then she was working undercover for SHIELD, sending secret updates to G.W. Bridge, the greatest Marvel character to be named after infrastructure.
Like at a certain point, Dani can take a night off from being the party mom who offers to drive and stinkeyes the skeevier boys who hit on her friends. Heck, Rahne’s the super-religious one who was raised to think everything is a sin, let her do it.
Cut loose, Dani, you’ve more than earned it.
