Matt’s pick: Detective Comics #1,100: Tom Taylor and Mikel Janin join forces to tell a story of Batman rescuing a young boy’s best friend. Greg Rucka and Alvaro Martinez Bueno team up for a tale that asks the question: Was Gotham better off before Batman? Mariko Tamaki reunites with Amancay Nahuelpan for a yarn that explores Bruce Wayne’s world outside the cowl and how his double life as Batman intersects with his alter ego’s actions. Dan Watters and Bill Sienkiewicz bring us a story that illustrates just how similar Batman’s motivations are to the criminals he has sworn to fight and how he fights against his own darkness. Adam’s pick: Black Cat #1: Felicia Hardy is the world’s slyest and most skilled super-thief. She loves a good score. The longer the odds, the better! But her entire world turned upside down after the Amazing Spider-Man’s battle with Hellgate, so Felicia is turning over a new leaf as New York City’s newest superhero. The first super villain on her list — the Lizard! But will the Black Cat risk it all after her do-gooding moral high ground attracts dangerous attention from the lowest of the city’s underworld? Austin’s pick: Marvel All-on-One — The Thing vs. The Marvel Universe #1: Ben Grimm is the ever-lovin’ idol of millions and the powerhouse of the Fantastic Four. He’s also tired, sore and grumpy. There’s always a new threat facing the universe — and somehow he and the rest of the FF are always the only ones who can stop it. He just wants a break! But when he returns to Earth after a solo mission in space to discover the Fantastic Four have turned against him – along with the rest of New York City, and, apparently, the entire world — he’s got a mystery to solve, and a whole wide world to clobber. Scott’s pick: VR Troopers #2: After the dramatic revelations of the first issue, Kaitlin puts her journalistic skills to the test to investigate Ziktor Industries.
