Matt’s pick: Immortal Legend Batman #1: Humanity broke the barrier between our universe and our universe’s shadow. From the void came horrific apparitions that craved nothing but destruction. But from this terror, a legend was born: a warrior who found a way to access the energy that binds our universe and the shadow universe, transforming him into a cosmic dark knight. This immortal legend was named Batman. He fought to keep us safe but then one day abandoned the war. Though he didn’t disappear entirely. Now they say he hunts a rouge’s gallery of monsters, born from the shadows. Written by Kyle Higgins and Mat Groom and drawn by Erica D’Urso and Dan Mora. ($4.99) Previously, in Batman … | Buy it here.
Tony’s pick: The Mortal Thor #1: The Norse myths tell of gods who walked the Earth, doing great deeds for the mortals who believed in them. But Asgard isn’t real, and never was. The gods never soared in our skies, never stood with our heroes, never fought for kindness or justice. It was all just a story. Nobody’s coming to help us. But somewhere in the city, a man is waking up. A man with a hammer. Written by Al Ewing and drawn by Pasqual Ferry. ($4.99) More info here. | Buy it here.
Austin’s pick: Universal Monsters: The Invisible Man #1: Jack Griffin has always been invisible to the people around him — at least in his own mind. But when an experimental breakthrough presents a path to make his dreams of invisibility a reality, no one — not even the woman he loves — will stand in his way. Written by James Tynion IV and drawn by Dani for Image/Skybound. ($4.99) Buy it here.

Mark’s pick: The Knives: A Criminal Book: Cartoonist Jacob Kurtz goes to Hollywood in the era of peak TV to work on an adaptation of his comic strip, only to find himself caught up in the life of his aging aunt and the vultures circling her estate. Angie was raised at the Undertow, but now everything she loves has been taken from her. And Tracy Lawless is home from the special forces, but he’s in bad shape and this city has always brought out the worst in him. By Ed Brubaker and Sean Phillips for Image. ($29.99) Buy it here.
Rasmus’ pick: Beneath the Trees Where Nobody Sees: Rite of Spring #2: Rejoin Samantha Strong inside the cozy confines of small-town life. The years have passed, and she’s slowed down a bit, but she’ll still get her paws dirty to protect the life she’s built for herself, no matter what it takes. As we’re reintroduced to Samantha in the ’90s, you’ll also get a peek into years long gone, filling in the gaps between her first kill and the first comic page. By Patrick Horvath for IDW. ($4.99) Buy it here.
Jake’s pick: Dark Regards #4: As Monte’s life hangs in the balance, Dave and Witch Taint must prove their music to be more grim and brutal than anything ever heard by human ears, or possibly be savagely murdered in cold blood if they can’t get it together. Written by Dave Hill and drawn by Artyom Topilin for Oni Press. ($4.99) Listen to Hill on The ComicsXF Interview Podcast. | Buy it here.
Dan’s pick: We’re Taking Everyone Down with Us #5: Despite a heroic sacrifice intended to buy her freedom from V.E.I.L., Annalise has become a prisoner in Chuma Castle. Now she must face her greatest challenge yet — etiquette classes! By Matthew Rosenberg and Stefano Landini for Image. ($4.99) Listen to Rosenberg on The ComicsXF Interview Podcast. | Buy it here.
