I haven’t been reading Deadpool/Wolverine, mostly because both characters are already in a million other comics, some of which are also team-up books. But I found the recap page for issue #10 oddly compelling. Allow me to share it here in full, bolding key words as I go:
“In the far future, mutant supremacist Apocalypse finally succeeded in transferring his consciousness into the body of Stryfe once his own many thousands-year-old body failed. Continuing his mission with the body (and psionic/psychic powers) stolen from Stryfe, Apocalypse traveled back in time, setting plans in motion with his X-Cutioners — which include Wolverine and Deadpool — to raze the world and build it back stronger.
“Apocalypse’s psychic control of his X-Cutioners stems from a nanite liquid, called Legacy 2.0, secreted from the captive mutant Legacy. Apocalypse overdosed Logan with Legacy 2.0 to bring him under his control again, as well as transform him into a hulking giant.
“Using a modified version of Legacy 2.0, Director Talyn of O*N*E brought Maverick, a former agent of hers, and Deadpool under her control and took the duo with her to Apocalypse’s floating headquarters, in a bid to stop the escaped madman’s plans … and kick-start her own anti-mutant schemes.
“However, Legacy used his abilities to extract the nanites from Wade and Mav, and the unlikely trio joined forces in an attempt to release Wolverine from Apocalypse’s control — if they fail, the world ends!”
Ladies and gentlemen, I’ve found it, the ’90s-est Marvel action comic! Well done, everyone, cigars all around.
