Billy meets X-Men character the Baba Yaga in our EXCLUSIVE preview of Wiccan: Witches’ Road #2

The Baba Yaga is a character from Slavic folklore, a witch who, depending on the tale, either eats children, Hansel and Gretel style, or aids the hero, like Matoya in the first Final Fantasy.

But like many folkloric and public domain concepts, the Baba Yaga also has been mined for Marvel stories, and not just that time David Dastmalchian shouted her name in Ant-Man and the Wasp.

In fact, according to Dr. Internet, the Baby Yaga first appeared in a Marvel comic in an issue of Captain Britain by Jamie Delano and Alan Davis, in which she was defeated by a young Meggan. Another version of the character was a Limbo demon summoned by Illyana Rasputina who kidnapped and force-fed the New Mutants, only to be defeated by Colossus, in one of the last interactions between the siblings before Illyana is deaged during the “Inferno” crossover.

All of this is taking the long way of saying, “The Baba Yaga is an X-Men character.”
