Oni Press to switch to Penguin Random House for distribution

Penguin Random House on Tuesday said it will become the exclusive comic and book distributor for Oni Press beginning Aug. 1.

Oni has used Lunar Distribution for comics since December 2021, and jumped ship from Diamond Comic Distributors last year amid that company’s bankruptcy restructuring. It also has used Simon & Schuster for book distribution. All of that will move to PRH.

PRH is also the comics distributor for Marvel, IDW, Dark Horse and BOOM Studios.

The new distribution deal will precede two of Oni’s big 2026 launches: Fort Psycho #1, the first issue of the new series from Matt Kindt’s Flux House imprint, previously at Dark Horse; and Archie #1, kicking off a new partnership between Oni and Archie Comics. The former is by Kindt and artist Brian Hurtt (The Sixth Gun), and the latter is by writer W. Maxwell Prince (Ice Cream Man) and artist Fábio Moon (Daytripper). (Seriously, those Oni-Archie announcements are nuts (complimentary).)

“For nearly three decades, it’s been the mission of Oni Press to bring distinctly original, visually inspired, and creator-driven comics and graphic novels to readers wherever they can be found,” Oni President and Publisher Hunter Gorinson said in a statement. “Now, as we prepare to kick off a banner year in 2026 and celebrate Oni’s 30th anniversary in 2027, we’re proud to cement a new partnership with the world’s number-one book distributor of books and comics – one that will ensure our creators’ work reaches the largest possible audience and creates even more fans and supporters for the comics medium in comic shops and bookstores around the world for even more decades yet to come.”

Said Rachel Goldstein, executive vice president of Penguin Random House Publisher Services: “Oni Press has long been a standard-bearer for creative excellence and innovation in comics and graphic novels. Their catalog combines cultural impact, commercial success, and a strong commitment to creators. We’re proud to welcome Oni Press to the PRHPS family and look forward to supporting their continued growth worldwide.”

Oni title and ordering information will be available through PRH shortly, the announcement states.
