There’s a lot that can be captured in a single look. The same can be said of panels, and this week, we bring you both, as the ComicsXF staff pick out their favorite panels from the week that was!
Dating Fatigue
Our first panels come from Ari Bard, from the comiXology Original We Have Demons #1, for little reason beyond its hilarity. Look, Liam Neeson is well worth getting excited about, but there’s gotta me more to dating than this.
Check out more from Ari here.
Death Remembers
You meet a lot of people when you’re a seemingly immortal mutant named Death — not the kind of mutant it’s easy to make an impression on. Then again, when you’re Storm, you’re making an impression on everyone, and Jude Jones’ pick from Excalibur #24 shows that Storm’s been on his mind ever since their fateful dance together.

Wolverine Gets Huffy
With all the Laura/Logan back-and-forthing going on, too many people forget about the one true Wolverine — Jonathan, the Actual Wolverine. You know who hasn’t forgotten? The creative team behind New Mutants #22, who gave Adam Reck his pick of the week.
Listen to Adam and Zachary Jenkins talk about Wolverine in Armor on this week’s Battle of the Atom!
Empathy for Empath?
Empath is the worst. It is fairly safe to say that we, as a website, are mad at him for simply existing. Austin Gorton, however, is more particularly mad at Hellions #16 for a fleeting glimpse of a sympathetic moment, writing “How dare you make me feel sympathy for Empath, even if just for a moment!”
Read Austin and Liz Large’s further thoughts on the issue here, in which they discuss the parts of the book they’re not mad at.
Nightmares of a Shadow King
Speaking of Liz, her panels of the week comes from New Mutants #22. Everyone knows the Shadow King’s mind is not a good place to be, and every now and again, we get on-panel proof.
Read Liz and Stephanie Burt’s reactions to the inner workings of the Shadow King’s mind in this review.
Old Man Conan
I’m gonna be honest. I’m a little behind on Savage Avengers. Zachary Jenkins informs me that it contains “Old Man Conan holding a gun he looted from Cable’s corpse,” to say nothing of his Doctor Doom cosplay.
I need to catch up on this series, quick.
You should catch up on Battle of the Atom in the meantime, if you haven’t!
Spidey’s Gotta Spidey
It’s been so long since I’ve read a Spider-Man comic I’ve enjoyed, I was worried I’d forgotten how, but the new creative team on the book has brought it home for me. My pick of the week comes from Amazing Spider-Man #75, a simple, casual moment of Peter Parker enjoying his arachnid-given powers on a bright, sunny day.
Check out Tony Thornley’s thoughts on the issue here!
Tallahassee Suplex!
Zachary Jenkins had a backup favorite panel, which I’ve saved for last, because, well … I have no words. Really, this panel, from the Meme Girls comic “Florida Girl Saves the Day,” speaks for itself. read the full thing on Webtoon.
Armaan is obsessed with the way stories are told. From video games to theater, TTRPGs to comics, he has written for, and about, them all. He will not stop, actually; believe us, we've tried.
