Look, I don’t care that we don’t have a release date or teaser art to show. Can we just talk about the fact that Swamp Thing Is Killing the Children, the DC-BOOM Studios crossover one-shot announced Saturday at New York Comic Con featuring the former’s muck monster and the latter’s bandana-wearing monster hunter, is the best intercompany crossover title ever?
Let’s be real: Most intercompany crossovers are about SEO. That’s why they keep it simple. Deadpool/Batman. Spawn/Batman. Alien vs. Predator. Fantastic Four x Gargoyles. It’s a lawyer-negotiated top billing/second billing. Swamp Thing Is Killing the Children is CLEVER. It took thought. It took discussion. Heck, maybe it just took James Tynion IV coming up with the idea in the shower, BUT STILL.
(It should be noted that Tynion reportedly told a panel audience at NYCC that “DC does want me to confirm that the real Swamp Thing that you love doesn’t actually kill children. There were some people nervous about the title.”)
Anyway, this is happening, and we’re happy for everyone involved. Deets below.

For the first time ever, BOOM! Studios’ award winning comic book series, co-created by James Tynion IV and Werther Dell’Edera, Something is Killing the Children, is crossing over with something dark from DC in the just announced one-shot special SWAMP THING IS KILLING THE CHILDREN.
The Eisner-winning creative team and co-creators of Something is Killing the Children are teaming up to tell this exciting, bold new chapter combining the dark supernatural existentialism fans have come to expect from DC’s Swamp Thing, and the kinetic, visceral monster killing heroism that has made Something is Killing the Children a household name.
“It’s such an incredible thing to see Erica Slaughter next to Swamp Thing,” said Josh Hayes, Vice President of Consumer Sales and Marketing at BOOM! Studios. “Len Wein and Bernie Wrightson are synonymous with comics I grew up on, and absolute masters of their craft. To have modern masters like James Tynion IV and Werther Dell’Edera telling a tale like this is something – I mean Swamp Thing that I can’t wait to read!”
“I’ll admit the sheer brilliance of the title alone was reason enough to get excited about this,” said Chris Conroy, Executive Editor for the DC Black Label imprint, “but James and Werther have gone deep and created a story that’s just as ambitious as any of the other classics in the Swamp Thing library. I think fans of both the SlaughterVerse and of the darker side of DC comics are going to be shocked and delighted when they see what we’ve been up to!”
While no release date has been set, fans can expect to hear more information in the coming months by staying tuned to www.boom-studios.com and follow @boomstudios on X.
