X-Force Is Back From Brisson & Burnett… And Things Have Never Been Deadlier

The dirty little secret that every X-Men fan keeps to their self is that X-FORCE is good actually. What started as the most X-Cessive comic of the 90s morphed into a teen drama with big guns, and bigger emotions. It also had some absolutely bonkers plot points. This December, writer Ed Brisson (OLD MAN LOGAN, EXTERMINATION) and artist Dylan Burnett (COSMIC GHOST RIDER, TUROK) bring back the most X-Plosive team in X-Men history with X-FORCE.

The original X-Force, or something like them, has reassembled in the wake of EXTERMINATION. Domino, Shatterstar, Cannonball, and Warpath are all pretty upset at the loss of their mentor Cable and have decided to take it out on his younger, hotter version X-Man Kid Cable. In an interview with Marvel.com Brisson said “They’re on the hunt for this new Kid Cable to get those answers—some want his head, some just want to talk to him to find out what the hell is going on. Is this really their Cable? Is this an impostor?”

The line up for this book promises to take all the good from the original X-Force while cutting away the least interesting character (poor Feral). No sign of mainstays like Syrin, Sunspot, Rictor, or the character find of 1993, Adam-X the X-Treme, but we do have Deathlok who might be the one from UNCANNY X-FORCE. Burnett summed up this writer’s feeling the best by saying “They’re just a bunch of badasses. It’s dope. I’m stoked.” So am I Dylan, so am I.

X-FORCE #1 comes out this December.

Press Release

New York, NY—September 13, 2018—This December, the X-FORCE reassembles…for revenge! Extermination writer Ed Brisson and Cosmic Ghost Rider artist Dylan Burnett are teaming up with Young Guns artist Pepe Larraz to bring you Domino, Cannonball, Shatterstar, Boom Boom, and Warpath in an all-new adventure!

“Coming out of EXTERMINATION, Domino, Shatterstar, Cannonball, and Warpath are reeling from the loss of their mentor and have unanswered questions,” Brisson told Marvel.com in an interview. “They’re on the hunt for this new Kid Cable to get those answers—some want his head, some just want to talk to him to find out what the hell is going on. Is this really their Cable? Is this an impostor?”

“X-Force has always been the one X-team that stood out the most for me,” added Burnett. “A lot of my favorite mutants have belonged to it over the years (namely Cable and Psylocke) but being able to bring back the original lineup in a new way is a huge honor. They’re just a bunch of badasses. It’s dope. I’m stoked.”
