The Runaways have been through a lot. While many assumed them lost during the great comics pause of 2020, the book made a surprise comeback, pick up right where they left off. Perhaps a crossover with the hottest property this side of Venom will help? Writer Rainbow Rowell and artist Andrés Genolet sure hope so.
In next week’s Runaways #33, the mutant, and best kid, Molly Hayes will have to make a choice between her found family and her birthright. Krakoa calls in the form of Wolverine and Pixie who have come to recruit the plucky pre-teen. The rest of the Runaways? They have to deal with High School yet again as Gert is hellbent on having a normal life. Maybe Gib plays football in this one? Who knows? Covers are often just thematic representations of the interior’s themes with a catchy image to sell books.
Runaways has been an absolute delight since it began and smashing the X-Men into it only promises to make it even better. To celebrate, ComicsXF has that exclusive preview that we know you crave so dearly. Does it involve Wolverine fighting a Doombot who has internal struggles with his own ideas of superiority? Yes. Are we very happy about that? Also yes.
On an unrelated not, Nico here is cosplaying like she’s ComicsXF’s own Zoe Tunnell. It’s an iconic look tbh.
The solicitation reads
- The Runaways are back! Not even a global pandemic, a seemingly endless contentious election and a possible Tik Tok shutdown can stop Gert, Chase, Victor, Molly, Nico, Karolina and Gib.
- And a new challenge beckons as they explore one of the most terrifying Marvel Universe locations ever– HIGH SCHOOL!
- It goes better for some than others.
- For those who don’t think High School is an authentic Marvel Universe location, you may be interested that the X-MEN come calling for the Runaways’ own Molly Hayes.
