Happy Belated Father’s Day, Big Daddy [A] Is Back in Our Staff Picks

Each week, ComicsXF staff offer their recommendations for what to read. New DC books come out Tuesdays, everything else Wednesdays.

Adam’s pick: X-Men: Before the Fall: Heralds of Apocalypse: In ancient days, Genesis turned back the hordes of Amenth. In ancient days, Genesis forced Annihilation into a parley. What words were spoken in her mind? Now, finally, Apocalypse will know, and the echoes of those words might destroy him — and Arakko with him. Written by Al Ewing and drawn by Luca Pizzari. ($4.99)

Rasmus’ pick: W0rldTr33 #3: W0rldTr33 holds the key to understanding why Ellison Lane’s kid brother carried out such an unimaginable atrocity, but it may already be too late to stop the Undernet from destroying someone else Ellison loves. Written by James Tynion IV and drawn by Fernando Blanco for Image. ($3.99)

Mark’s pick: TMNT/Usagi Yojimbo: Wherewhen #4: Lord Noriyuki’s army recuperates from a fight with the Mogura Ninja clan. Meanwhile, General Usagi, the TMNT and the Neko Ninja clan encounter dangerous clockwork spiders as they near Dr. WhereWhen’s fortress. But are the mechanical foes the only ones prowling the forest? By ya boi Stan Sakai for IDW. ($4.99)

Tony’s pick: Tim Drake: Robin #10: Robin and Batwoman are trapped in the lair of the Chaos Monsters. Will they be able to escape with their sanity intact? I mean hopefully; it is the last issue, after all. Written by Meghan Fitzmartin and drawn by Nikola Cizmesija. ($3.99)

Zack’s pick: Wolverine: Snikt: In 2003, fresh off the success of his hit series Blame!, star manga creator Tsutomu Nihei connected with Marvel Comics, writing and drawing the limited series Wolverine: Snikt! Bringing his signature style to bear on the iconic X-man, Nihei took Wolverine to a darker, more terrifying dimension, presented here in a deluxe edition. ($19.99)

Dan’s pick: Captain America Epic Collection: The Secret Empire: No, not the bad 2017 one, the good 1974 one where Richard Nixon kills himself. Collects Captain America #160-179 and featuring stories by Steve Engelhart and Sal Buscema. ($39.99)

Austin’s pick: Marvel July 1963 Omnibus HC: July 1963 isn’t just the month Avengers #1 and X-Men #1 came out.
