The Uncanny Experience to return for sophomore year

Uncanny Experience Sophomore Year

If you missed out on the inaugural Uncanny Experience X-Men fan convention earlier this fall, you’ll get another chance to enroll, thanks to the recently announced Uncanny Experience Sophomore Year.

Following the success of the first event, which featured a unique mix of traditional comic book convention staples like exclusive variant covers and creator panels with more immersive fan-focused offerings such as tarot readings, a recreation of Wolverine’s bedroom and a Dazzler cosplay-led karaoke jam, Giant-Sized Productions is returning to the Minneapolis Club for Year Two next fall.

Continuing the show’s celebration of all things X-Men with a particular focus on the fondly remembered 1990s animated series, writer Chris Claremont has already been announced as a returning guest, along with first-timers and X-Men: The Animated Series voice actors Alison Sealy-Smith (Storm) and George Buza (Beast), with more guest announcements promised.

Here’s the full press release:

MINNEAPOLIS, MN – October 16, 2023:  The Uncanny Experience will return for a second edition in the city of Minneapolis, Minnesota. The successful X-Men Fandom Event launched its inaugural immersive experience on Sept. 16 of last month and is already poised to come back with dates announced and first special guests revealed.  Mutants of all walks of life are invited to attend on Sept. 28-29, 2024. Tickets are now available on pre-sale to Newsletter Subscribers and will go on sale to the wider public on Oct. 20, 2023.

Legendary comics writer Chris Claremont returns to The Uncanny Experience, where he will continue to lead discussions on X-Men History and be available for autographs, remarks and more.  Alison Sealy-Smith and George Buza, who voice Storm and Beast in X-Men: The Animated Series and returning to the franchise with X-Men ’97, were also announced to be Special Guest attendees.  Ticket holders will have the opportunity to meet and greet the special guests of the convention, but only Omega Level Ticket Holders will have intimate access to them at the Omega Cocktail Reception on Friday, Sept. 27, 2024.  Omega Level tickets, which are already sold out from pre-sale, are limited to only 10 lucky attendees and are offered a variety of perks that can be found on the Uncanny Experience ticketing platform. VIP ticket holders are granted their own express lane for registration and autographs, custom Student ID Badge, as well as an invite to the After Party in the Mansion where they will be entertained with activations like the Hellfire Club ceremony. VIP Tickets are limited supply. The last ticketing option is General Admission, which allows attendees to attend the two-day event during its regular daytime hours of operation – unless they decide to add on the After Party ticket option to join the fun at night.

The Uncanny Experience is an immersive event that transforms the historic Minneapolis Club into Xavier’s Institute – the home of the X-Men in comics, film and cartoons. The inaugural event saw ticket holders attending classes on mutant culture, exploring the campus with rooms decorated like Wolverine’s bedroom, unraveling clues in the Mystery in the Mansion quest, being initiated into the Hellfire Club and singing karaoke alongside Dazzler. 2024 attendees can expect much of the same with even more surprises in store.
