These Emma Frost redesigns are nothing less than fabulous

It’s somewhat surprising that our team hasn’t yet done the most fashion-forward mutant with the most looks to her name, Emma Frost, the White Queen. Well, darlings, that’s being addressed now! Emma has had so many fabulous looks since her introduction in 1980 and gone through so many phases, from villain to teacher to headmistress to superhero to member of the Quiet Council. Our designers had a lot of inspirations to pull from as they set out to find new ways to interpret the bold and confident White Queen. Will Emma be sporting any of these chic new looks as she emerges from the Fall of the House of X?

I wanted to do something kind of high fashion and fun! It’s kind of ugly, but that’s fashion.

Inspired by her first appearance and some of her most recent looks during the Krakoan era, I wanted to create something that felt classy yet comfortable enough to move around with ease and that she would actually wear in her for- … thir- … “late twenties”?

“And THIS week, our EXTRA special guest judge, all the way from the Quiet Council of Krakoa, the White Queen herself … Emma Frost will be here.”

My take is after the Krakoan era and her marriage to Tony Stark, Emma’s PR team would be working overtime. And this is just something she’s pulled from the archives for guest appearances: a couture corset, a custom body-sculpted under corset, a good white hooker boot and a diamond string necklace/choker. Who says you can’t fight Orchis in the afternoon and then hit the club that night in this outfit?

For my redesign, I took inspiration from the ’60s (especially Twiggy) with a dash of Erotica-era Madonna. Her X-Men uniform should work on its own while allowing for the many accessories and customizations needed for each occasion.

Went with a reference to Emma’s Hellfire days. A shocking lack of white fur, but hey.

My Emma design is based off of Beyoncé concert looks. Went for flashy, impractical, shiny and impressive. Hopefully, I succeeded.

Emma has had some great high-fashion looks, but I wanted to give her more of a classic superhero look. I was inspired by her elegant costume in Astonishing X-Men, as well as the crystalline details from her 2021 Hellfire Gala looks. The breastplate is made to look like diamond, and the flowing sleeves and long wig can be removed for when she needs to get into diamond mode for physical battle.

I wanted to combine Emma’s two most successful endeavors into my design, her capacity as an educator, and later as a political leader.

As official education secretary for Krakoa, she is dressed elegantly for diplomatic affairs but provocatively to inspire obedience. She combines her signature white tones with the classic blood reds and coral pinks of her Hellions class — a reminder to herself to remember what she’s fighting for.

My intention for this redesign was a slightly different take on Emma’s classic outfit with Mugler and burlesque influences + major hair inspo from Priscilla Presley in The Naked Gun.

Where does Emma Frost sit in the Master Mutant Rankings?
