Martin Coccolo’s cover to Marvel’s Logan: Black, White & Blood #2 is hypnotic.
It’s also very good.
The hypnotic circles are a throwback to Jim Steranko’s late 1960s work. Coccolo uses Wolverine’s unique silhouette to draw the many lives Logan has lived over his century-plus existence, from soldier to spy to superhero to suit-wearing stud with an eyepatch, each with their own Marvel Legends action figure.
The stories inside appear to tell basic Wolverine fare: Logan communes with nature until his momentary peace is shattered. Logan seeks solitude taking a blue-collar job for pay until he is forced to come to the aid of someone who needs protection from unscrupulous types. Logan cuts up dudes on a Team X mission that goes pear-shaped. All fine and dandy for folks who like those flavors of Wolverine stories.
But that cover is good, and I wouldn’t mind seeing Coccolo move on from the main Wolverine book if it means more Marvel covers like this.
