After a surprise attack by the Reavers, an X-man is left on the backfoot, and only after befriending a child and cutting loose is he able to take the fight back to the cybernetically augmented bad guys.
Yes, Uncanny X-Men #205 is a dope comic.
But so is Cyclops.
So much of Scott Summers’ personality is “I lead the X-Men” that it’s refreshing to see all that stripped away, to remember that at his core, he’s also a tightly wound competence porn aspirant with delusions of being the mutant Batman.
But unlike the Dark Knight, Cyclops is allowed to screw up. To make the wrong the call. To get into yet another argument with his brother Alex, who deserves better but yet somehow also worse. To abandon his wife and child when his ex comes back from the dead. To F off to Alaska when a ninja licks motor oil off his face.
To be human, because the best of us are.
We’ve been a little (justifiably) mean to the X-books this week, but to be clear, Cyclops is one of the books you should be reading.
Check out our exclusive preview of Cyclops #2, out next week, and keep scrolling for the basic deets.
