Dan’s pick: The Florida Hippopotamus Cocaine Massacre #2: The hippos are loose! Yes, an entire amusement park filled with ravenous hippopotami chomping on families and destroying property values! It’s a good thing Miquel Senecoza and Clarke Nebraska are on the case. Although it’s a shame that Nebraska has Miquel tied to a chair while she beats him with a phone book and reveals her tragic backstory that left her hungry for justice! Written by Fred Kennedy and drawn by James Edward Clark for Mad Cave. ($4.99) Listen to Kennedy talk about the series on The ComicsXF Interview Podcast.

Scott’s pick: Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles — Shredder #6: The Shredder’s worldwide hunt for the Mourner brings him back to where it all began: New York City, where his renegade former pupil has assembled the final components for a device to tear open the mystical gates to our world. Something sinister is happening behind the scenes, and Wally is right in the crosshairs. Written by Ryan North and drawn by Gavin Guidry. ($3.99) Buy it here.

Adam’s pick: Department of Truth #36: In the early ’90s, cable TV is king — and something ancient is watching from the static.
