The social event of the season is underway as the new X-Men were just revealed at the Hellfire Gala. Next week has the long awaited “fireworks” and the best possible chance that the X-Men are moving to Mars (as was foretold). But until then, the New Mutants are going to dance the night away in our exclusive preview of New Mutants #19.
Vita Ayala has revitalized this book, positioning it as a debate on bodily autonomy by examining it through multi-faceted lenses. There’s been an eerie mood, deep emotions and a mature perspective on the failings of Krakoa as a nation. While Krakoa celebrates its explosion on the world stage, the youths of the island are ensnared by the Shadow King, with Gabby Kinney (Scout, formerly Honey Badger) missing from the festivities. Artist Alex Lins (Immortal Hulk, Lords of Empyre: Celestial Messiah) draws the high fashion mutants at the Gala, including a stunning Karma. Now, we can independently confirm that they aren’t talking to Jonathan Van Ness in the New Mutants #19 preview, but we can safely say that this issue looks fabulous. Make sure you check out the latest and grab this issue next week!
