Pyro doesn’t know how fire works in our EXCLUSIVE preview of X-Factor #3

Let’s talk about Pyro.

St. John Allerdyce is a former journalist and current romance novelist. He is a longtime member of the Brotherhood of Evil Mutants and its attempt to go straight as Freedom Force. As a Marauder, he was one of the more entertaining examples of a villain finding a new role on Krakoa among former enemies.

Also – and this is important – HE DEFINITELY KNOWS HOW FUCKING FIRE WORKS.

You think if you spend 40-plus years walking around with a flamethrower strapped to your back, you don’t know you need oxygen to create and control flames? You think that thing doesn’t come with an instruction manual? You think when it breaks he’s not watching YouTube videos on how to fix it? He’s on a government salary; he can’t afford the Tinkerer!

It’s one thing to write Havok as stupid – he’s more or less become the Homer Simpson of the X-Men and we’ve all accepted it. But painting Pyro with the same broad, stupid brush just shows how many of the current crop of X-writers don’t seem interested in exploring the characters and how they’ve evolved and just want to do their own thing, readers be damned.

Anyway, check out our exclusive preview of X-Factor #3, out next week, and keep scrolling for the basic deets.
