X-Men #32 sees an away team of Beast, Kid Omega, Xorn, Magneto, Animalia and Ben Liu (mutant name TK) face off against Department H, Marvel Canada’s equivalent of SHIELD or MI:13.
Interestingly, Department H’s team of pet superheroes, Alpha Flight, appears nowhere to be found. (They’ve been busy over in Wolverine, and previously appeared in this volume of X-Men back in issue #12.)
But the Hudsons, Puck, et al aren’t the only superpowered characters on Canada’s payroll.
Anybody remember Weapon PRIME?
After Alpha Flight disbanded in the 1990s, Canada’s Department K (three letters up from H) put together a new strike team including members like Tigerstryke, Double Trouble, Killspree and Yeti to hunt down its targets, such as X-Force and Northstar in a post-Flight solo outing.
Killspree even got an action figure in ToyBiz’s X-Force line, because what were they gonna do, give one to Boom-Boom?
Point is, Weapon PRIME is available, and given how much Jed MacKay loves a deep pull (Astra, anyone?), they’d be right at home fighting X-Men in the Canadian rockies, making everything just a little more … X-treme.
