What If …? X-Men #1 casts a new light on Cassandra Nova (PREVIEW)

The thing about Lucas Werneck’s cover to What If …? X-Men #1 is that Cassandra Nova looks less like evil lady Charles Xavier and more like evil lady The Watcher.

In fact, compare the cover with the inside title page immediately below. Same bald head. Same high collar. Same dark blue, purple and black nebulously cosmic background in which the looming figure looks ominously over the object or objects in the foreground.

What If…? Cassandra Nova is really a Watcher mummudrai?

Think about it. Watchers are sworn never to interfere. All Cassandra does is interfere. She loves interfering. Practically lives for it. She’s bald. She’s basically a cosmic entity that’s just oddly obsessed with Earth mutants.

Yeah, I think we’re on to something here.
