I don’t play Animal Crossing, so the last few weeks on social media have been Greek to me. However, I have been playing a lot of Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, and I’ve discovered something. Isabelle rocks.
I typically race as either Toad or Toadette. The small, compact characters (or Light) take turns better, especially on motorcycles. They also are quite a bit faster, because they’re small and small means less weight, which means more power for speed. Plus, Toadette’s adorable. Come on, how can you NOT like her?
However, as Animal Crossing: New Horizons took off, I decided to give Isabelle a try. First of all, I immediately noticed the similarities between her and the Toads. It makes sense. The three are all “Light” weight class characters. Also, she’s incredibly bright and sweet, without any of the aggressiveness that’s present in the Mario Universe characters. I found myself using her more and more, winning stars and trophies that I hadn’t just yet.
For an Animal Crossing “noob” like myself, her guest appearance in MK8D is the perfect gateway for anyone curious about this game and the fandom. However, she’s a brutal competitor.
After all, you wouldn’t want to see that smug little grin after she tags you with a Red Shell either.
