McElroy’s Reveal Shocking Retcon to DEATH OF WOLVERINE

This special report comes to us from Robert Secundus

As XavierFiles has previously covered, Wolverine’s return has gone through many frustrating and befuddling twists and turns. Still, we all thought one thing would remain stable: what killed Wolverine in the first place.

On January 7, Justin, Travis, and Griffin McElroy, three brothers perhaps best known for their investigative reporting on E3’s Chicken Tenders, announced their upcoming War of the Realms tie-in Marvel miniseries, Journey Into Mystery.

As part of the announcement, they additionally revealed a shocking retcon to the now classic miniseries, Charles Soule and Steve McNiven’s Death of Wolverine.

Forbes 30 Under 30 Media Luminary Griffin McElroy stated that “Magneto farted in [The Wolverine’s] face and he smelled it so bad he died like an idiot.”

Neither Lucky Jim nor Griffin McElroy returned a request for comment at the time this article went to press.

The brothers plan to not just change our understanding of the character’s death, but also his life. Travis McElroy, the middlest McElroy brother and star of the hit video series Carrey On, a film-by-film review of Jim Carrey’s stunning career, revealed that they were exploring a small but perhaps extremely significant new detail to Logan’s character: “Motherfucker hums […] just under the level of loud enough where you would feel like saying something […] but loud enough that [anyone nearby the Crazed Canuckle] can’t not hear it.”

Finally, Justin McElroy, noted Sheetz enthusiast, also revealed that Journey into Mystery would have consequences reaching far wider than the story of Lucky Jim, aka Patch, aka James Howlett, and also approach Grant Morrisonesque metafictional territory: “we have a scene, where Spider-man took off his mask, and it’s Peter Parker, and everybody’s like, ‘Gasp!’, and he’s like ‘oh you ain’t seen, nothing yet,’ and he pulls it off and it’s me… and it’s actually been me the entire time.”

Though this is their first work with Marvel, the three brothers are no stranger to extended continuities and serialized fiction; they will be starring in the upcoming sequel to Trolls, Trolls 2 aka Trolls World Tour, and have reportedly already offered Dreamworks a number of suggestions which might creatively rejuvenate the beloved franchise.

On Journey into Mystery they will be joined by comics artist André Lima (Spider-verse) and their father, Clint McElroy (radio personality and professional caster of Zone of Truth).

Journey Into Mystery #1 will be available April 10 and will run for five issues.

Zachary Jenkins runs ComicsXF and is a co-host on the podcast “Battle of the Atom.” Shocking everyone, he has a full and vibrant life outside of all this.
