When X-Force #116 kicked off Marvel’s new era, finally divorced from the Comics Code Authority, it did so with gusto. The new X-Force, then led by the vomiting Zeitgeist, was decimated in a tragedy (?) known as the Boyz R Us Massacre. From that point on, Peter Milligan and Mike Allred’s ecstatic mutants made a tradition of dying young and leaving an ugly corpse. That grand tradition lives on in The X-Cellent #2.
