About a month ago, we shared covers from AHOY’s Toxic Avenger Comics #5, in which ol’ Toxie gets his Frazetta on in a fantasy pastiche.
Now, we get up in them guts with a special preview of the comic. And little did we know, it’s Jersey AF.
Not because the Toxic Avenger is from the fictional town of Tromaville, New Jersey; we already knew that. But because this Heavy Metal-meets-Band of Brothers book is set on the near-future shores of Asbury Park, as Toxie and his team seek to reclaim their homeland from a bug infestation.
And where there’s Asbury, there’s Bruce Springsteen references, just in time for the release of that movie where The Bear plays The Boss. There’s even a nod to my adopted near-homeland of Atlantic City. It’s enough to make a fella want to put his makeup on and fix his hair up pretty.
