DC stacked wins on wins on the second day of Comic-Con in San Diego, announcing a number of new series, minis and one-shots with exciting creators and filling some recently critiqued gaps in the publishing line. The quick-and-dirty version:
- DC heard criticism of its lack of ongoing solo series centering Black characters and announced new series for Vixen, by Stephanie Williams and Khary Randolph, and Static, by Cody Ziglar and Diego Olortegui. Williams previously wrote Nubia for DC, and Ziglar had a long run on Miles Morales: Spider-Man for Marvel.
- For Batman Day, Sept. 19, we’re getting Batman of Two Worlds, a one-shot contrasting the Batman of the Prime Earth with the Batman of the Absolute Universe, with stories by their current writers, Matt Fraction and Scott Snyder. And it’s holding the line at $2.99!
- Speaking of Batman, the Absolute Martian Manhunter team of Deniz Camp and Javier Rodriguez is reteaming for Shadow of the Bat. Which means Camp is bringing his penchant for social commentary to Gotham. Hook that ish to our veins!
- Michael Walsh, of The Silver Coin and Exquisite Corpses, is doing a Jonah Hex mini.
- James Harren, of Ultramega, is doing a Demon series.
So, to reiterate, DC is investing in top-tier talent to tell unique tales with its marquee and lesser-known heroes, and correcting its most prominent flaw.
Marvel announced some stuff today, too, but this was the news that made the CXF Slack light up.

Batman of Two Worlds
DC today announced Batman of Two Worlds #1, a Batman Day 2026 comic book debuting globally on September 19, 2026, in participating markets around the world.
Batman of Two Worlds #1 features an all-new Batman story by writer Matt Fraction and artist Javi Fernández, with colors by Tomeu Morey and letters by Clayton Cowles, alongside an all-new Absolute Batman story by writer Scott Snyder and artist Nick Derington, with colors by Frank Martin and letters by Tom Napolitano.
“You have two different looks at Batman,” said Matt Fraction. “The moral structures, the ethical structures, the political structures. A chance to put them side by side and see the similarities and differences.”
“This is just such a unique moment,” added Scott Snyder. “The mission was to show what’s special about each interpretation. The two stories are both about Batman’s form of justice.”

DC’s Next Level line continues to expand with Jonah Hex and the Shadow of Death, a new six-issue series written and drawn by Michael Walsh (Exquisite Corpses).
