BatChat With Matt & Will: Snyder’s Nightmares

Court Of Owls Banner

Of the many writers who have written tales of the Dark Knight over the past 15 years, few if any have left their mark as much as Scott Snyder. Creator of the Court of Owls, with an impressive 52 issue run on Batman proper, not counting many other series and mini-series, Snyder explores the fears of modern society, and specifically his own, in his writing. This week, it’s time to read three stories written or plotted by Snyder, and see how fear and history tie into the heart of Gotham and Batman

  • The Court of Owls (Batman V.2 #1-11)
  • Batman: The Gates of Gotham #1-5
  • My Own Worst Enemy (All-Star Batman #1-5)

Be sure to check out this week’s BatChat column, where we look at Detective Comics  #1,068, Batman: One Bad Day-Catwoman and Nightwing #100.

Matt Lazorwitz read his first comic at the age of five. It was Who's Who in the DC Universe #2, featuring characters whose names begin with B, which explains so much about his Batman obsession. He writes about comics he loves, and co-hosts the creator interview podcast WMQ&A with Dan Grote.

Will Nevin loves bourbon and AP style and gets paid to teach one of those things. He is on Twitter far too often.
