Has it ever been a good idea for one or more X-Men to have a picnic?
Banshee, Moira, Storm and Colossus had a lovely time lakeside until Weapon Alpha showed up demanding to drag Wolverine back to Canada in X-Men Vol. 1 #109.
During another team outing, in X-Men Vol. 2 #8, a fresh-from-the-future Bishop has words with Gambit that result in Rogue getting a face full of kinetically charged boysenberry pie.
OK, I guess there was that time on the butte near Angel’s house in Uncanny X-Men Vol. 1 #132 where Phoenix took Cyclops’ virginity and nothing bad happened. At least not until they got their asses kicked by the Hellfire Club. But that happened later.
Oh, and Pete Wisdom took a woman on a picnic at the end of Captain Britain and MI13 to watch all the vampires burn up on reentry when they tried to attack Earth from the moon.
So maybe it’s 50/50, good picnics vs. bad picnics. You just have to make sure they involve sex and/or vampires.
Also, quick question: How can Mars need mutants when Mars is Arakko? Is this more Krakoa erasure, or is Gail messing with us again? (Probably the latter.)
